Hurts – New Single – ‘The Road’

26 Dec

“Anyone expecting the duo to suddenly become happier and upbeat will be very much disappointed.”

Hurts

The first cut emerging from the new album by Hurts is the hauntingly beautiful ‘The Road’, which follows their template of atmospheric, angst ridden, synth driven pop.

They’ve taken a much darker route so anyone expecting the duo to suddenly become happier and upbeat will be very much disappointed.

‘The Road’ certainly has shades of their signature sound that has given the duo a huge following, albeit with production on an epic scale and heavier, murkier instrumentation that simmers in the verses before slowly building up and exploding in the chorus.

Theo Hutchcruft’s vocals are tinged with anguish as he soars from a murmur to a howl, while menacing synths, lingering guitars and colossal drums play out.

If their new cut is anything to go by, we can expect an epic return from this duo.

Following the success of their debut studio album ‘Happiness’, Hurts are really back with this one. The album ‘Exile’, which will be released in March next year.
