Don Broco – New Single – ‘Fancy Dress’

21 Dec

” ‘Fancy Dress’ asserts Don Broco’s growing position as something like lad rock’s answer to Andrew WK.”

Don BrocoKicking off with a mosh mustering bludgeon of power chords before segwaying in to Rob Damiani’s laid back, audacious drools about (yep, you guessed it) partying, ‘Fancy Dress’ asserts Don Broco’s growing position as something like lad rock’s answer to Andrew WK.

Already with a combo of boy band looks and a “do what the fuck we want” mantra, consistency to churn out tunes like this one, ‘Dream Boy’ or ‘Priorities’ is all that remains before they break through and become the next You Me At Six, only less gimmicky and without the fake Cali accent.

On paper, it’s simple stuff, a whopping pop chorus perfectly strung between bridges and verses with a fluidity that usually can only come from years spent honing song writing.

Undercut with mosh chunky riffs and ex Proceed member, Tom Doyle’s bass lines which carry more balls than Barry White and Henry Rollins put together, you have a remedy that incites the most bat shit mental of live shows that also seems to attract more female listeners than most bands of their ilk.

‘Fancy Dress’ might not carry the kind of technical finesse or ingenuity that musos are after and lyrics like “I think we’ll be alright” and “that’s the way the party rolls” aren’t going to mark front man Rob Damiani as the next Sheridan or Shakespeare but that was hardly what Broco were aiming for.

They aimed to produce pop rock bangers for crowd surfers and circle pitters and no doubt they’ll see plenty more of those in their snowballing career.

‘Fancy Dress’ is released on Jan 28th from all your general outlets.
